For the December/January 2013/2014 Issue of Auxiliary Magazine I shot the fashion section’s Must feature. The concept behind this feature is to highlight a must-have item for the season within the world of alternative culture and subculture. This time the must-have was a chunky knit hat and scarf from Toronto designer scarffaces. I acted as photographer and creative director and we had a great team for the shoot including model Dannielle Bradford, makeup artist and hair stylist Theresa Jahmi, and fashion stylist Shannon Kramp. I always enjoy shooting this feature as the goal is to get just one great shot that has to show off the featured fashion item, have a clean background for layout, set the right tone for the season, and give a hint of a story.
About a year ago, I can’t believe how time flies sometimes, I had the pleasure of shooting Jennifer and Bill’s engagement photos. Their adorable daughter Daphne joined them for many of the photos and we shot on location at Mohawk Place. Mohawk Place, the iconic Buffalo punk/dive bar and concert venue, has since closed but we were lucky to be able to get in to do these photos shortly before the closing. Mohawk Place had a special meaning to Bill and Jennifer; Bill having DJed the long standing Transmission Dance Party there and Jennifer with many fond memories of attending and counting down to many new years there. It was great shooting engagement photos at unique venue that meant so much to the couple!
